New Year New Goals

2019 Is Here!

It's 2019 and I'm well aware I haven't blogged in some time. Sorry for that, however I let life and other outside activities get in the way.

In order to focus more fully on my writing I have walked away from a few things I enjoyed, but the ate up a lot of time.

Let's start off with a brief look back and an update. I'm still a proud Army wife, we've moved (no real surprise there), and I've decided it's time I took my writing seriously.

A Hot Cup Of Tea To End The Day

Tea, wait you all know I drink coffee but tea. Yes, I drink tea. I have to have my caffeine in the morning or when I get up. (No I'm not always awake in the morning.) After a long day of chaos, (more on that later.) I love to end my day with a cup of hot tea. There is a soothing property in tea that coffee just doesn't have. There is something about the steam rising from the mug as the water and tea join to form this cup of relaxation. No, I'm not giving up coffee, that would be sacrilege but why can't I enjoy both beverages at different times of day.

Holidays Apart

I know it’s only September, well almost October. The holidays both Jewish and regular are all around me. The only issue is that my husband is once again in a distant land serving our country. Would I change this?
NO! I love David, I love everything, well almost everything about him. His putting service to our country ahead of himself is part of what I love about him. I know some of you just don’t believe me, but there’s something very special about the men and women who wear the uniform. No, I won’t bore you with everything that makes them so special, but let’s just say they are usually some of the best people you will ever meet.

So what’s a person alone on all of the upcoming holidays to do?Continue reading

My Conversion to Scrivener

I had been writing in word for years. I think most of have used word at some point in our writing lives, even if just for a school paper. I owned not one but two copies of scrivener. I had both the mac and pc versions.  My mac is dedicated to writing. There are no games on it and I don’t want them there. My PC is for fun time or applications that won’t work on mac.

While I supported the product by spending money, in the end it was a piece of software I never used. It was like that scarf your aunt makes for you every year, you don’t know what to do with it, so it ends up on a shelf in the closet.
Oh I’d tried but the mere thought of moving my beloved baby into this new realm scared me. So I decided to start small I built a character database in the program.
Then I never accessed the database since it was in a separate program from my writing.

I continued to muddle through and leave that piece of software on my computer always saying “I’ll start my next project on it.”Continue reading

Pizza and a wheelchair

Many years ago I was working my way through college. who didn’t in the 90’s? I was working at a pizza place. It was late and I was trying to close things down so I could go home, I’d been there all day, yes I had opened that day.

This one night stuck with me as did the last call I took. My delivery driver had just left for the night since we were closing in five minutes, and the last thing I wanted to do was deliver a pizza myself. The man on the phone was staying in a motel a few miles away, I tried to convince him that to come pick up the pizza, even offering a discount. The caller explained he was in a wheelchair, I sighed. I’m sure he heard the sigh but I did deliver that pizza and threw in a few drinks to go along with it, not to mention the paper plates and napkins. When I arrived he was sitting there in a wheelchair.Continue reading
